This presentation is a poignant reminder that the struggle against racism continues even in seemingly inclusive environments. Systemic and structural bias persists in institutions and policies, affecting marginalized communities every day. Through the story of the Polynesian Panthers, we discover the roots and manifestations of institutional racism and its impact on indigenous populations, immigrant communities, and other minority groups. We shed light on the complexities of dismantling such deeply ingrained systems, emphasizing the collective responsibility for achieving a more equitable, harmonious, and just Aotearoa.
