A big part of coming together as counsellors has always been the opportunity to network, chat over a coffee or a wine and regroup and refresh, alongside the Professional Development. Within the current guidelines we would be restricted to our regional bubbles, continued social distancing as well as seated service for food and beverages and functions. We also feel as though we are throwing a party knowing not all our guests can attend, so with all these things in mind, regrettably we have made the tough call to cancel the conference. 

Our hope is that someone else may pick up and run with it. We are more than happy to pass on all we have learnt throughout the last three years trying to bring this beautiful ‘Mauri Ora’ baby to life.

As a committee made up entirely of school counsellors, we feel disappointed and have worked through all the stages of grief to get to this point, but now have accepted that it is no longer feasible to continue proceeding with the conference in these uncertain times.
